Makgotso Ntai Founder of YouMe Organics

We are excited for you to meet Makgotso Ntai , the founder of YouMe Organics.

As you know, here at SYH, we are inspired by men and women that go all out for what they are passionate about, we are inspired by their hustle and the spirit of perseverance, and Makgotso Ntai’s journey is one that we can learn from.

Learn how she got her hustle together to birth YouMe Organics:

Who is Makgotso Ntai, tell us about the entrepreneur in you?

I am Makgotso Ntai, an ambitious, go getter who doesn’t settle. I always get what I want provided I work hard and smart for it. I am also the Founder of YouMe Organics, a Natural hair company

When did it all start? How did you birth the idea of YouMe Organics?

YouMe Organics was established after the passing of my late grandmother. I figured I have to leave some sort of legacy for my children but prior to that, my sister and I had started our Natural hair journey’s and there was a time I stopped using and buying products because I wasn’t convinced the well known hair brands catered for Natural hair. I proceeded to make my own homemade products and this way I knew exactly what I was  applying/putting on my hair. Family and friends would ask for methods and remedies and that’s when a light bulb came on. I used all my savings and started my own Natural hair company. Our products are organic and do not contain any chemicals and Parabens, they are infused with Moringa, Coconut oil and Green tea which ensures health and growth.

From the time that you decided to pursue this business, what challenges have you faced?

YouMe Organics was founded when I was in university. It’s definitely hard trying to find a balance between school and business and most of the capital is fully funded by you. So my allowance and my savings went into growing my business and that Business campaigns need to be done even if you have an assignment and an exam in a week’s time and Time management was a problem.

How did you overcome them?

Always prepare for a project in advance. Doing research of a specific project makes it easy for you to succeed. Budgeting helps improve your finance and we have been using an app called Money management, it’s easy and effective. This way Financial matters won’t be a fuss. Also prioritizing is important, if it’s important, get it done.

How do you push through your worst times? What keeps you motivated?

Honestly alot of money and time have been invested in the business, so giving up is not an option. You first have to mentally arrive at your destination before you arrive, you have to envision your success before you fully work for it. You need to see where you want to be, this way it’s easy to see the bigger picture incase you ever feel like giving up. ‘Get it done’ is my every day motto

How old is your business/hustle and what are you most proud of so far?

YouMe will be turning 1 in August. The journey is honestly humbling. Everyday is a learning curve. We are proud of the fact that we have won every business related competition we have participated in, we must be doing something right. We are proud of the interview/articles that have been written about YouMe Organics, I hope they one day inspire an up coming young entrepreneur.

Congratulations on taking that first step and actually starting. How are you marketing your business now, what has worked for you so far?

Social media has contributed so much to our business. It’s easy to communicate and find new customers on our timelines. It’s accessible and convenient.

If you were not doing YouMe Organics, would you have followed a traditional career and be locked in a 9 to 5 job? If yes, what would it be

Yes I will be working for a financial institution in the next coming month and as a SME it’s essential to learn from other established businesses. You need to learn how they operate and how they maintain clientele. Learning doesn’t start and stop by you, you need to learn from other people as well.

What is the advice that you would give to someone who is starting a business in 2018?

Don’t allow anyone to cloud your vision. If you want it as bad as you say you do, work hard for it even if it means waking up early and sleeping late. At the end it will be worth it, just get started.

What can we expect from YouMe Organics in 2018 and beyond?

We have been growing tremendously and the support is highly appreciated. We are planning on launching new products which will be available by the end of July. Just follow us on our social media accounts to follow our journey.

We are also working on an app for our YouMe community, this will enable our customers to come together and learn about hair, beards, lifestyles and find potential friendships and lastly we are planning on expanding and employing more people to join our team.
